Jumpstart Your Car in A Jiffy

Having a dead battery is a relatively common occurrence. It's easy to accidentally leave your headlights on overnight or a car door open just enough that the dome light stays on a few too many hours. Knowing how to jumpstart your battery is a critical skill that every driver should master.

First, clamp a jumper cable to the positive side of the dead battery. Then attach that cable to the positive side of the battery that is still working. Next, clamp the other cable to the negative side of the battery that is not working, and then attach the other side of that cable to part of the engine block. Start the car with the good battery and let it run for a few minutes. The dead battery should now have enough power for you to start your car.

If your battery fails to hold a charge after you jump it, you might want to have a professional take a look. Here at the service center of Doug Smith Kia in American Fork, UT we're always available to meet any of your automotive repair needs. Just give us a call.
